چکیده

A photograph taken by a conventional camera captures the average intensity of light at each pixel, discarding information about the angle from which that light approached. Light field cameras retain angular information about the rays they collect, allowing re-integration of rays during post processing. Consumer light field cameras have small apertures, and laboratory camera arrays with large baselines are expensive and not portable. In this paper we demonstrate time-lapse light field photography with the eye-in-hand camera of the Baxter robot. Using the eye-in-hand we can collect light densely and precisely over large distances. The collected rays can be refocused in software with varying lens and aperture properties to form conventional 2D photographs. This refocusing allows us to perform 3D reconstruction and segmentation and suggests approaches for enabling existing computer vision algorithms to robustly handle optically active surfaces. The techniques in this paper can contribute to robotic visual systems for object manipulation as well as media collection systems for virtual reality devices.

Control of a 2-DoF robotic arm using a P300-based brain-computer interface

In this study, a novel control algorithm, based on a P300-based brain-computer interface (BCI) is fully developed to control a 2-DoF robotic arm. Eight subjects including 5 men and 3 women perform a 2-dimensional target tracking in a simulated environment. Their EEG (Electroencephalography) signals from visual cortex are recorded and P300 components are extracted and evaluated to perform a real...

Time-Lapse Light Field Photography for Perceiving Transparent and Reflective Objects

Robust robotic perception and manipulation of household objects requires the ability to detect, localize and manipulate a wide variety of objects, which may be mirror reflective like polished metal, glossy like smooth plastic, or transparent like glass; for example, picking a metal fork out of a sink full of running water or screwing a metal nut onto a bolt. Existing perceptual approaches based...

I-12: Objective Embryo Assessment Utility of Time-Lapse

Background Traditionally, embryo incubation and assessment daily has been under a light microscope, these observations are inevitably restricted to specific times and considering that the development of the embryo is a dynamic process, several critical stages in between observations may go unnoticed. For this reason, the new technologies, time lapse monitoring, have focused on the research for ...

Robot Arm Performing Writing through Speech Recognition Using Dynamic Time Warping Algorithm

This paper aims to develop a writing robot by recognizing the speech signal from the user. The robot arm constructed mainly for the disabled people who can’t perform writing on their own. Here, dynamic time warping (DTW) algorithm is used to recognize the speech signal from the user. The action performed by the robot arm in the environment is done by reducing the redundancy which frequently fac...
